Boxing Glove Size Guide
Last updated: October 27, 2025
Choosing the right boxing glove size is essential for your comfort, protection, and overall performance. At FightGlove.us, we want to help you find the perfect fit whether you’re training, sparring, or competing.
This guide explains how to measure your hand and select the correct glove size based on your weight, training type, and personal preference.
1. How to Measure Your Hand
To determine your glove size, you’ll need to measure the circumference of your dominant hand just below the knuckles (excluding the thumb).
Use a flexible tape measure and wrap it around your hand. Record the measurement in inches.
2. General Boxing Glove Size Chart
| Glove Size (oz) | Hand Circumference (inches) | User Weight (lbs) | Recommended For |

These measurements are general recommendations. The ideal glove size can vary depending on your training intensity, style, and personal comfort.
3. Glove Type Recommendations
-
Training Gloves: Ideal for everyday workouts and bag training. Choose 12–14 oz depending on your body weight.
-
Sparring Gloves: Heavier gloves (14–18 oz) provide more padding to protect both you and your sparring partner.
-
Bag Gloves: Lighter gloves (8–12 oz) designed for speed and precision on the heavy bag or pads.
-
Competition Gloves: Usually 8 oz or 10 oz, depending on weight class and event rules.
4. Tips for the Perfect Fit
-
Gloves should feel snug but not tight.
-
When your hand is wrapped, the glove should still allow natural movement.
-
Always wear hand wraps when training or sparring for added wrist support and protection.
-
If you are between sizes, choose the larger option for more comfort and padding.
